FAQ’s about equipment
How should skates fit?
Most people will say hockey sk8s should fit tight—but how tight? For youth sizes, you should be able to place one finger between the inside of the boot and the heel of your foot. This is simply to allow some room for growth. Adult sk8s are made to mold to the foot, so this extra space is not necessary. You will also want to take into consideration the width & depth of the sk8, and our Sk8 Tech’s are always happy to assist you with the correct fitting process.
Do I need to bake my sk8s?
It is important to note that baking is NOT a necessary process. In fact, some players prefer the traditional way of breaking in sk8s which is to simply wear them. You should sk8 a few times in your new sk8s and then seek and expert and describe what you are feeling … Additionally, recreational sk8s do not carry enough stiffness to need ‘breaking in’, and baking can wear materials down to provide less support.
